Mermalior
Mermalior here is one of our first Hungarian artists. One can see from this art that he's sent in that he incorporates ornamental designs,
art nouveau, and celtic influences into his concepts from The Wheel of Time.

This 31 year old artist has told us that he has a particular liking for the darker characters in WoT. I am very impressed that he used pensil, pen, and acrylics in this work of Liandrin. This latest work, Elnore's Thistle, is in the same style, but shows some diversity in emotional style. Very nice

This artist sent in his work twice....once was sort of a pre-show, because he had the basic sketches done, and the concepts that he had going down...but they were unfinished. I liked them immediately, and hoped that he would finish them off and send them to me, so that I could put them up.

Well not too much later, he sent in the finished work. Needless to say, I am very pleased that he did finish them up. As you can see, he has pictured our favorite ta'varen , and I must say that he did them justice. Good job.

Roberta Vaughan
Wotmania's own Roberta!!! Let me just say, that from the second my eyes caught glimpse of her work she emailed me, I finally understood all the praise and excellent comments people have made about Roberta's Work! She has an amazing talent in capturing the real human side of WoT characters. Just simply amazing! And I for one now know why Rand was so taken with Lanfear!!! I look forward to seeing many more of Roberta's works ...

Hamilton Cline
Hamilton Cline impressed me a great deal with his sketches and colorings of WoT characters. I greatly enjoy how he has taken the vision that he has seen in his head when reading parts of the series, and integrated that into this work. I greatly look forward to seeing what else he has in store for us.

Jody and Samantha of the Two Sisters Inn ... now here we have artists whom make you feel right at home as soon as you set foot (or mouse) into their wonderful website. Their character sketches are marvelous works, containing a great amount of detail and emotion. Be sure to stop by the Inn on your way through town, you won't regret it!!! Also, make sure to see the artwork their children have done, it will warm your heart, as well as give you a sense that WoT will be read and appreciated for generations.

James Jackson (Child of the Light)
When I saw the picture of Mat, I must say that I was quite impressed...because it captured the trickster that we all know so well. And of course, the piece on Perrin Goldeneyes close to what I pictured him looking after the battle at Dumai's Well. And then we have The Dragon Reborn. From the Crown of Swords to the Dragon Scepter, very well done. Our three favorite Ta'varen how cool is that.

Greg Scott
Greg here sent in just this one piece. It's entitled "The Warder"...but it reminds me of Lan (go figure) *grins*

I especially enjoyed the fact that there was some background done for this character. That the feel of the area also reflected on the subject of the work. What sold me on this work though was the warder cloak. Check that out people...fantastic. You are quite talented, and I hope to see more of your work soon.

Timothy Monbureau
So not too long ago, we got these submissions in the in-box. I opened them up and immediately I thought, "No way....these are just too different." And then I sat there and looked at them a bit more. It wasn't until I had put aside my initial feelings and actually looked at the art that I began to appreciate it.

Tim has a wonderful flare of talent. It's strongly characterized by what his mind perceives and what his hands create. One can clearly see his unique look at the world of WoT. I hope to see more from him.

Kesentlaya
Here is another of our european wotmaniacs with excellent art. Kesentlaya comes from Italy, but her talent is not as "classic" as one would think. It's got great shading and character...very nice.

She discovered The Wheel of Time not too long after the PC game came out. After being enchanted by the game, she read the books and the rest is history. Good work, and I can't wait to see some more pieces.

Miss Persephone
Miss Persophone here sent in some of her original Wheel of Time artwork, and as I was looking at them all, I came across this picture of Aviendha. Immediately I thought in my head..."I know this girl." It took me a bit of time, but it finally dawned on me that this is close to how I picture the character in my head.

And then I came across this picture of Elayne. I was immediately taken aback...can't you see the little princess now?...wait...Daughter Heir...not princess. The beauty, the attitude of "I'm a future queen". I love the emotion behind the work. Nicely done.

Madeleine Gusdal
I can honestly say that what I like the most about Madeleine's art is how so much life is captured in each picture. From the detail in the picture of Aviendha, to the haughty feeling that Selene gives off, to that general calm and in-control nature that Rand gives off...just so much life.

What also impresses me is that she sent in some great digital art as well. Check it out on the other page!

Daniel Zalucki
Daniel here sent in this initial work...a Myrdraal...for me to take a look at and give him my thoughts. Well considering the good work that he did, I decided to put his work up, and let you all help him out in that regard.

Daniel is from Poland and has 22 years of life on his back. He's a pretty good fan of wot, and enjoys putting on paper what he sees in his head. What I liked about this work was that it has a "mind's eye" view of something that we should fear, but that we don't completely understand. Good job Daniel, and I hope to see more of your work soon.

Cicely Jurgenson
Ok, I must say...the moment I opened up Cicely's web page, I was completely speachless. It was all I could do to pick out the three pics that I wanted to put up here at wotmania.

As you can see...there is a very dream-like feel to her art. This is almost exactly what I picture Dreamwalkers seeing when they lightly brush against another's dreams. I love the use of water color for Thom and the Halfman, and the water color and ink on Moiraine and Lan. You've done well...can't wait to see more of your work.

Raymond Kissell has a very unique take on WoT characters, combining a deep shading, along with subtle strokes of the pencil to create a very interesting view of some of our favorite WoT characters. Hillary R. White
Since the age of 10, Hillary has been been an artist. It's obvious from her work that she has spent years in developing her gift. Since she picked up her first Wheel of Time book at the age of 13, she's worked on her concepts of the characters, but she has only receintly put those concepts into reality.

These are just three of the many (and I do mean many) sketches that she has submitted. These three caught my eye not only from the talent, but from the emotion that was caught up in the work. I'm quite pleased to have Hillary's work here at wotmania.

Phil is an up and coming Web Comic artist whom has shown a real creative touch to making characters seem larger than life, yet still real enough to relate to. Yeah, you read it right...Kuke is an artist. I know, I know...I thought the exact same thing. But never-the-less, he's a pretty good artist (although I'm still somewhat....*meh*.....over the fact that Couldin in the background has french cuffs on his cadin'sor ).

But our Kuke depicted one of my favorite scenes in the series....the battle between Mat and Couldin. I can't wait to see what other art that Kuke has squirreled away.

Ok...so it was near midnight here when I opened up this e-mail. All is great...I have my snack and drink...planning to do some work here at wotmania...

So I scroll down and I'm confronted with this... artwork. Let me just say that it was as if someone had distilled the very evil that is a Myrddraal and put it to physical form (needless to say, I almost dropped my drink) It's dark, emotional, and just all around frightening. Way to capture the subject! I eagerly await some more art...well sort of.

This mysterious artist, who sent their work under just this name, is quite adept at shading edges and interpretation. She is one of our artists who is consistantly sending in her work (and it's all good).

She went back and put to paper a new concept for Lanfear, and I must say that when I opened the e-mail, I was stunned...very very good. It's apparent that she has quite a gift to put on paper what she sees from the books. I like the picture of early Min. I'd date her!

Well our very own Gena Sedai sent in her artwork, and I must say that I was impressed. I enjoy her style and media because it has a very real portrait feel to it. It reminds me what a depiction of a person was like before there were cameras and such.

As you can see, her work has a very human aspect to it. I eagerly await your next work Gena Aes Sedai. You have a wonderful gift of putting the "human" aspect to the characters that some of us have read about for the past 10 yrs.

Leigh Ann Ackland
This 14 year old student from the land of Australia sent in just this one piece of work, but I hope that Leigh sends in more.

The first thing that I noticed was the use of both graphic pencil as well as colored pencil. I would think that this would be quite difficult, to make sure that one doesn't overpower the other. I liked the "true to life" physical description of what a Maiden of the Spear just might look like. Well done, well done indeed.

Nissa Mortensen (tsorovan mais)
Nissa's work is what I have pictured the chalk artists at Falme as having produced (only in pencil)...with the subtle shadings and the eye for that which characterizes us as individuals.

Nissa recently sent in some of her newest work. She's been trying out some new shading as well as conceptual techniques. To go along with her previous piece on Tuon, she sent in Lanfear and Min in her latest style. I must say that I do enjoy both, as they both have a different flavor that is refreshing to see.

Alexandre Dainche
Well it looks like our French wot artits are just fantastically talented. Alexandre sent in his work under his fiance' Magali's e-mail name. So then I'm reading what he has written and it sounds like he's just sending in this one piece in hopes that it would make it. So then I'm thinking that he must just be a beginning artist looking for comments and such.

I scroll down, and I'm confronted with this great piece of wot art. And not only is it just a character or two, but it's a scene complete with background and details and everything. I can't wait to see what else Alexandre has in store for us (and rumor has it that he has some great LotR art too....ooh ooh, can't wait!)

Her real name is Angela Waite...get to know it. Hopefully much more work of hers will come in. I especially liked the attention to detail. Of course Lanfear is going to have her stars and moons in her hair, and then she wouldn't be so simple as to wear a plain white dress, but no, it shimmers as well. This mysterious artist sent in this piece of work that I really enjoyed. It's rare that we get submissions for the minor characters, so when I see one, I am automatically pleased.

So I get this e-mail, and from the name I think <southern hick accent> "This artist isn't from around these parts" </southern hick accent>. So with a bit of a smile on my face, I open up the e-mail to see what she's got in store for me...and my jaw just drops.

I *love* the work. It's excellent. Her depiction of Lan is almost dead on what I have pictured in my head, and then the I love how she captured the look of both Nynaeve and Elayne. The picture of Lanfear just creaped me out though. It's totally the look of anguish that I pictured right before she goes off the deap end and goes crazy at the docks in Cairhien.
