Banner Ads
I am always looking for ways to bring in more revenue to wotmania. The more money I bring in, the better wotmania becomes - the money I earn through wotmania is always invested back into wotmania (things like more RAM for the Web server, better processors, bigger hard drives, etc). This page includes information about the opportunity to buy banner advertising space at wotmania. So whether you're interested in gaining exposure for your website, or just placing a funny (pointless) ad on wotmania, this is the page for you.
Cost
It seems like a good bet that anyone interested in placing banner ads on wotmania is first and foremost interested in the pricing structure.
Cost: $2.00 CPM
Minimum Quantity: 5,000 ad impressions
For those unfamiliar with advertising lingo, that means you pay $2.00 for every thousand impressions of your ad. That's a very reasonable rate for a site with such a targeted audience. That also means that your minimum order is $10.00 - not expensive at all.
Specifications
Naturally there are some specifications for your ad. I can't have these ads looking goofy (oddball sizes) or taking modem users several hours to load (huge file sizes). Below are the relevant specifications.

Size: 12kb
Image Type: gif or jpg
Other Stuff
There are probably one or two other things that folks looking to place ads might be interested in knowing... Definitely some interesting info here you don't want to miss.
- Banner Rotation
wotmania runs some of its ads through a company called Burst Media. I select a certain percentage of ads (10-20%) to rotate/sell/show directly via wotmania. Each ad in the wotmania database has an equal chance of being selected randomly to show at a given time.
- Stat Tracking
You will have a chance to track the statistics of any banner ad you have running at wotmania. You will be able to see how many times your ad has been shown and how many times it has been clicked. This is available via a special page in the "Your Account" menu.
Instructions
Okay, now it's time for the nitty, gritty details. Before we really get going, though, let me say that you have to buy your banner ads through PayPal. If you aren't a PayPal member I have some information about PayPal for those who will need to sign up. On to the details...
Once you're actually in PayPal you'll be on the form where you fill out various items of information to place your order. One important note is that the minimum quantity for your order is 5. If you try to make an order for 1,000 ad impressions (as opposed to the minimum 5,000 ad impressions) your purchase will not be accepted.
For this to all work correctly I need a few pieces of information for you that will go in the Special Instructions box. This includes:
- Image URL
This is the URL of the image you want to use as your ad. I will go to this address, grab the image, and upload it to wotmania.
Example: http://35.10.40.62/wotmania/images/ads/6.gif
And yes, this means you have to have your own ad - I won't be creating ads for people. As an alternative, include a note telling me that you will be e-mailing me a banner (something like what the banner says) and that will work fine, too.
- Click Through URL
This is the URL you want a person to go to when they click on your ad.
Example: http://wotmania.com/premiumhome.asp
If you don't have a specific URL in mind (like if this is just a practical joke style ad), just use http://wotmania.com.
- Your wotmania Username
I need this if I'm to make the statistics for your advertisement available to you. It also lets me know who "owns" the ad, should I ever need to get in touch with a particular advertiser.
Failure to follow the instructions above will result in your ad not running. I also reserve the right to deny any ad based on the banner image or the click through URL should I object for any reason.
